We can really tell what we idolize by what we rely on. Over the course of our entire life, we learn to rely on things that do not possess the qualities necessary to sustain us. God alone will never leave us, fail us, or forsake us. Everything else will. When we choose to rely on those things that fail us, we will constantly be falling down and getting back up. True growth cannot happen when we're constantly falling down and getting back up. I am convinced that if we acknowledge our idols and destroy them, we will enter into a level of maturity with God that we have never known before and we will become who He has called us to be.
