Can you hear me now?
For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed. For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him.
The promise is twofold here: No matter who you are, the Lord is rich to all who call upon him. Also whoever believes on him, that they will not be ashamed! There are many scriptures which speaks about people calling out to God and that he promises to answer them.
And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us: And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him.
-1 John 5:14-15
Sometimes, when times get tough and things aren't going our way we wonder if God hears our requests. Or, we go through a long list of why God might not answer our prayers or why a peculiar person might be the exception to the rule and not able to receive God's grace.
Now when the sun was setting, all they that had any sick with divers diseases brought them unto him; and he laid his hands on every one of them, and healed them.
It's interesting that Jesus didn't try and weed out the ones who shouldn't be worthy of his healing power. No he didn't; He healed all who were brought to him and none was shamed or turned away.
Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works.
It's also interesting that according to Jesus, that it was the Father in him that did the work (or healed the people or produced the miracles). Surely there was many reasons why God shouldn't have healed everyone in this group, so why didn't the Father weed out some of the people, if it his will not to heal sinners or certain people. (Surely God knew who he was healing through his son!)
But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
Scripture tells us that God is love; many places God speaks of the importance of having and keeping a "good" name. God is who he is, because he never compromises his name, therefore he will always be who he says he is. God answering our prayers is based on who he is, not who we are. But he does expect us to trust or to have faith in him no matter what is happening around us.
God's will towards us is based on who he says he is and on the promises he has made. He will never compromise, therefore if we want God to hear (answer) our requests, then our requests must be made accord to his word and in faith to his character. If we can do this, then we know he will hear us and that we will never be shamed or turned away. He is no respecter of persons, he will hear you, if you have heard him through his word and his Spirit!
